I went to the set of Divergent!

~ A photo essay by Jen (California, USA)*

Sometimes dreams don't exactly come true and you are forced to accept "close enough." When I found out that the movie based on Veronica Roth's engaging book, Divergent, was filming reshoots in Los Angeles (most of the movie was filmed in Chicago), I wanted SO BADLY to be an extra in the movie. Unfortunately, by the time that I found out that the movie was filming reshoots in Los Angeles, I was too late to be cast.

I researched the filming locations for Divergent (code name: Catbird) online, and I decided to swing by the set on the very last day of shooting: February 1st, 2014. If I couldn't be in the movie, at least I could watch the filming.

Unfortunately again, on that day, all of the scenes were filmed in the interior of the old Title Insurance Building at 433 South Spring Street, rather than on the street. And so, I had to settle for getting to see some of the extras arrive at the location wearing their faction wardrobe.

I shot a few photos of the extras to share with those of you who are as excited about the movie as I am (the upside of me not being an extra in the movie is that, if I were an extra in the movie, I wouldn't be able to post anything online about my experience or take any photos, due to a legal agreement that extras must sign when they work on the film). Despite a somewhat disappointing morning, my friend and I used our Metro day passes to make the most of the rest of our day, taking in some of what Downtown Los Angeles has to offer, including Little Tokyo and Chinatown.
